Record and Log Fishing Sessions – Track Catches and Weather Data
A session is the core of AngelStratege. This fishing diary with weather and catch analysis records every fishing day with weather, location and catches. Every time you go fishing, you record a fishing session digitally – and with it all relevant information that will later help you recognize patterns in your fishing success.
Every recorded session makes AngelStratege smarter. The app compares your experiences with weather conditions and identifies under which circumstances you are most successful at your fishing spot. Over time, this creates a personalized analysis based on your own fishing data.
What Is Recorded?
AngelStratege fills in much of this automatically: the current time, your GPS position, the matching territory, as well as air pressure, temperature, wind, precipitation and moon phase. Cloud cover, water temperature, water turbidity and water level, on the other hand, you deliberately assess yourself – observations no weather API can deliver, which the app then puts to use in your evaluations.
Time
- Start time: When did you start fishing?
- End time: When did you stop?
The duration of your sessions is automatically calculated and used in evaluations.
Location
- GPS coordinates: Exact position of your fishing spot
- Map coordinate selection: No GPS signal? Record the position later via map.
Territory
Each session is automatically assigned to a territory. The territory name is displayed directly in the session.
Weather (automatic)
For each session, the following weather data is automatically loaded from a weather service at the start and end – no input needed from you:
- Air pressure
- Temperature
- Wind speed and direction
- Precipitation
- Moon phase (calculated astronomically)
Water conditions (manual)
No weather service can deliver these values – you optionally enter them yourself whenever you can assess them on site:
- Cloud cover – deliberately your own assessment, not an API value
- Water temperature
- Water turbidity
- Water level including trend (falling, stable, rising)
Water turbidity and water level in particular are often underestimated, even though they directly influence fish behavior. Both values are optional to enter, so you can later see in your evaluations whether they play a role at your fishing spot.
Notes
A free notes field for everything you want to record: Special observations, rigs used, water level, etc.
Catches and Bites
In the lower, not visible area of the session you can find your catches and bites. Here you can see all activities (catches / bites) as a list.
Managing Sessions
In the session list you can see all your past fishing days at a glance. You can:
- Filter by spot
- Filter by time period
- Edit or delete sessions
Why Keep a Fishing Diary?
Many anglers know the feeling: You had a great day at the water, but a few weeks later you can barely remember the details. What was the weather like? What time did the first bite come? With the digital fishing journal in AngelStratege, every session is permanently preserved – including all the conditions that may have contributed to your success.
But more importantly: Your recorded sessions form the foundation for the fishing app's analysis. AngelStratege compares weather data, air pressure trends and your catches across all your sessions. This reveals patterns that would be invisible without systematic recording – for example, that you catch particularly well at your lake when air pressure is falling and wind comes from the west.
Tip: Sessions without catches are just as valuable as successful ones. They tell AngelStratege under which conditions the fish were not active – and thus sharpen the assessment of future fishing conditions.
